When there is a Hurricane warning most people start to panic, but there are a number of things you can de before hand. Hurricanes bring devastating losses which include cars, homes and lives.

Here are a few things that will keep ensure your home stays as safe as possible:

  •  Anything outside that can be blown away should be brought in (this includes lawn furniture, garbage cans, statues, etc.)

  • Tree’s should be trimmed free of any coconuts, loose tree limbs and branches. Close all windows and doors and secure

  • Make sure all shutters are in good working condition and all parts are available if they need to be put up.

  • Move your furniture away from windows.

  • Turn you refrigerator and freezer to the coldest setting in case there is a power outage.

  • Keep all important documents in water proof containers

  •  Have plenty of water, flashlights and batteries available.

  • If staying in your home, keep away from windows and doors.  Seek a safe place in residence such as bathroom, or any interior room.

  • If evacuating your home make sure all electricity has been turned off along with gas and water.

  • Find out beforehand where shelters are located.

  •  Keep vehicles filled with gas and under cover.

  • Have a portable battery operated radio or T.V. handy and do not leave residence until you are told it is safe to do so.
